The Wall Street Journal reported, citing informed sources, that the Pentagon and the White House have jointly developed military plans for a potential attack on Iran.
The newspaper said U.S. officials “outlined information on possible strike options against Iran that were developed collaboratively by the White House and the Pentagon.”
According to the sources, the plans include what is described as a “grand plan,” which calls for large-scale U.S. strikes targeting Iranian government institutions and facilities belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as part of a broad bombing campaign.
Other options under consideration involve limited strikes against symbolic targets linked to Iranian authorities, leaving room for further military escalation should Tehran refuse to reach an agreement.
The newspaper noted that Washington has so far kept the strategic objectives of the potential operation confidential.
